Why or why not? Before answering, Christians, you might want to read them:
A small number of Christians have previously answered this yes. Some add that they have been *altered* and that is why, for example, Christians don’t place mezuzah on their doorposts. If you believe that, where in the Bible does it say that were they *altered* and by whom?
For the record, based on both Romans and Galacians, my family does not follow these 613. If a Christian chooses to, that’s their decision. But if you choose to, why do you think you can *alter* them or pick and choose. You’re either *under* them all as written or you’re not.
God is not operating under a law system today.
The law was given to the Nation of Israel to prove to them that they could NOT achieve a righteous standing thru obedience to it. Why do you think God gave them the sacrificial system of atonement once a year? It was BECAUSE they couldn’t obey the law.
Gods requirement if you are under the law is that you obey 100% from birth to death, without messing up ONCE. NO ONE can do it, that’s the point!
Today the law is called a curse to anyone who places themselves under it. Galatians 3:10 ":For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.":
Let’s see what God has to say about the place of the law in a believers life today:
Romans 3:21 But now the righteousness of God WITHOUT the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets:
Romans 8:3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
Romans 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall NO flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
Ephesians 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved:)
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith: and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is NOT justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall NO flesh be justified.
Galatians 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
":we are not under the law, but under GRACE.":
":Christ is the END of the law unto righteousness to all who will BELIEVE.":
There, that ought to do it…wink.
Jesus and God has made it simple and plane, on how to be a true christian and be counted worthy to stand before Christ at the great day of the Lord.
JESUS—Mat 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
GOD—Deu 6:5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
JESUS—Mat 22:39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
GOD—Lev 19:18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself: I am the LORD.
This world doesn’t understand that the First Four commandments of God, tells us How to love God with all of our hearts and mind,
And the last six of the commandments of God tells us how to Love our neighbors as ourselves.
1Co 7:19 Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God.
Deu 5:29 O that there were such a heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children forever!
Ecc 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
I am a Gentile and not under the law. I am to abstain from sexual immorality and the things sacrificed to idols.
