I just recently finished this remarkable autobiography, and I was shocked at the diabolical torture this young child went through. Ever since then, I’ve been looking at the glass as not half empty: I’ve been looking at other people’s misfortunes in another way. I’ve been looking at the whole picture, helping out the best way I can.
I loved it as well. I read it when I was 10 and again in college for a class on women writers. The book opened my eyes to the fact that injustice can happen to anyone anywhere.
I read it as a school mandatory.I thought it was crazy. But things like that are nearly things of the past.
My take on this book?
A harrowing true story that still haunts me.
Hard to believe what all these families went through…
