What was the first Black and White movie you’ve ever watched, if you remember..?

I believe mine was Dracula, that or Some Like It Hot.

BQ- What about your first silent movie?
BQ2- What is your favorite B&amp:W and silent movie?
BQ3- Today is Vincent Price’s Birthday! Favorite movies with him?

Hey lovely! 🙂

Mine was Abbott &amp: Costello in Pardon My Sarong it’s a 1942 black &amp: white movie, I was too young to remember to follow the story but I remember the characters very well. This was during a time where my dad rented out his favourite movies when he was a kid and made my brother and sisters watch it. Stuff like 1000 Leagues Under the Sea, The Absent Minded Professor, King Kong etc. I remember King Kong very well though. I dunno why but when I was little I thought &quot:old things&quot: were &quot:boring and dull&quot: that’s why films were in black and white because it had to be, because they were black and white is &quot:boring and dull&quot: and &quot:colour&quot: isn’t. So it wasn’t allowed to be in colour. I was a pretty stupid child back then. 😛

BA: I’m certainn it was Nosferatu, all my &quot:first movies&quot: tend to be my dad’s favourite, so any introduction I had to a different type of film was through his tastes.
Ba2: Oooh that’s tough I love so manyy (Metropolis, City Lights, Bride of Frankenstein…) Today I’ll say for: B&amp:W- Bicycle Thieves (visually stunning) and Silent film- Sherlock Jr. (simply because of its sheer sweetness and meta-ness of it).
BA3: Happy birthday to him! Theater of Blood had me in a daze for weeks, he absolutely shines in that movie.

🙂 🙂 🙂

The first one I can remember is Stalag 17 but I’m sure there was earlier ones.

BQ – It was either the Gold Rush or Sunrise. I can’t remember which because I watched a few silent movies within a short period of time so its hard to remember which one i saw first.
BQ2: Its a Wonderful Life. The only silent movie that I’ve watched and enjoyed rather than being bored during is Metropolis.
BQ2: The only ones I’ve seen are Edward Scissorhands and The Ten Commandments and I’m not sure you’d call either a Vincent Price movie but of the two of them ES is the best.

Actually, the furtherest my memory can take me back is watching &quot:Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein&quot: with my father when I was a little boy…..and outside of &quot:The Wizard of Oz&quot: it is also the movie I have probably seen the most times during my life time.

The General

Citizen Kane

City Lights

1. The Song of Bernadette
2. The House of Wax
3. Edward Sissorhands
4. Theater of Blood
5. The Fly

the first one I remember was Young Frankenstein. The first old b&amp:w movie I remember was The Day the Earth Stood Still. as far as b&amp:w tv, I was a twilight zone junkie for as long as I can remember.

BQ: Nosferatu. wasn’t everybody’s?

BQ2: favorite b&amp:w is really hard to narrow down. The Maltese Falcon, Sunset Boulevard, Double Indemnity, 12 Angry Men, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? etc.
favorite silent flick is probably Metropolis

BQ3: I’m a huge vincent price fan. my faces are The Abominable Dr. Phibes, The Last Man on Earth, House on Haunted Hill, The Masque of the Red Death, House of Wax and The Fly

Well, I can’t exactly recall which movie. But the first black and white entertainment was an episode of The Twilight Zone in 7th grade. After that, I really got used to watching black and white with I Love Lucy. It would probably be It Happened One Night.

BQ: The Gold Rush.
BQ2: Sunrise
BQ3: The Fly, and Edward Scissorhands.

Probaby &quot:A Christams Carol&quot:, with Reginald Owen. Or the balck and white portion of &quot:Wizard of Oz&quot:
&quot:The Bicycle Thief&quot: as favorite B&amp:W Movie
No favorite Silent Movie, not into the genre
&quot:House Of Wax&quot: and &quot:House on Haunted Hill&quot: &quot:The Fly&quot: and &quot:The Ten Commandments&quot: as fav Vincent price movies. Happy Birthday Vince!

I’m pretty sure it was To Kill a Mockingbird. I may have watched B&amp:W movies when I was younger too but I don’t remember…

BQ: The Kid (1921). I remember watching it when I was about 14 and I knew nothing about silent movies, I just really wanted to watch a Chaplin movie because I was starting to get more interested in film history at that time.
BQ2: How dare you ask such a hard question 🙁 I’m just going to choose the last ones I watched because I’m so bad at picking favourites. B&amp:W: Yankee Doodle Dandy, Silent: The Mysterious Lady.
BQ3: Leave Her to Heaven.

Hey 😀
I think mine was probably We’re not Married, starring Marilyn Monroe.

BQ- Metropolis
BQ2: B&amp:W: Doctor Strangelove, Silent: Metropolis
BQ3: Edward Scissor Hands

I thiiiiiink it was Duck Soup with The Marx Brothers, but it’s hard to remember ’cause it was decades ago 😛
BQ- The Gold Rush (Charlie Chaplin)
BQ2- The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (one of my favouritest ever!)
BQ3- The Bat. Runners up: Fall of the House of Usher &amp: House on Haunted Hill

I’ve seen a lot that ran as repeats.. I do remember the first movie I saw that got me interested in older movies as a teen was &quot:It’s a wonderful life&quot: with James Stuwart, then not long after, I got into Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers movies, that was my life as a pre-teen pretty much, get home from school and watch old movies, I just loved them..but I didn’t have much of a social life! lol but I had a good time.

Rebel Without A Cause with James Dean! Still love to watch that movie.

I’ve actually never seen any silent movies just clips of Charlie Chaplin :/
Favorite B&amp:W- Toss up between Singing in the Rain and Casablanca
