If Jesus came 2000 years ago, why did christians only realize slavery is wrong in 1860?

Why wasn’t slavery made illegal in the dark ages when europe had a christian theocracy? Why was it ever allowed in america if Jesus was suppose to say it is wrong? Is it not our evolved morals that decided it is wrong? How can you say morals come from god, if god allows slavery, but we think it is wrong?

Because the Bible endorses slavery on multiple accounts.

Jesus wasn’t a big deal then. Jesus became more popular as the republican party came into a more powerful level in the 60’s. The parties reversed then. So the republican party with the drug companies &amp: the independently wealthy &amp: the churchs were all working on the masses. Now with Fox hole news &amp: other right wing media &amp: the money they can afford to pay them the brainwashing is stronger than every. Jesus is used now as a cult attraction. The media gets the masses sick. They run to their doctor &amp: get meds &amp: the meds keep them paranoid &amp: looped up. One big scam on the republicans so they will do everything they can to keep the independently wealthy using the American public.

Christians throughout history knew slavery was wrong. And in many areas they helped to abolish it. Read about william wilburforce( sp?) who wrote amazing grace and also helped to abolish slavery and the slave trade in the british empire. Now about 1860, I assume you meant the US.. Many, many people, and not only christians, held that slavery was wrong, from the founding of the nation. However, political and socio-economic conditions made slavery a very contentious issue, and one of the main divisions between the north and south leading up to the american civil war. It took the war, with 600K casualties mostly white christian males, from both sides, to settle, among other things, the slavery issue. The US paid for slavery, and other things, with the devastation and loss of the Civil war. Slavery was ended permanently with the passing of the 13th amendment. Even president Lincoln was a casualty of the war and slavery. If you research, you will find that Lincoln was inspired by the work and beliefs of William Wilberforce.
Enjoy the history lesson, and I think whoever has taught you world history, US history, and the History of Christianity, needs to go back to school for some history lessons of their own.
By the way, ins’t this a repeat of a similar question?
Its funny, Hindus, muslims, pagans, and atheistic types throughout history, have held slaves. Curiously, the asker left them out.

Christianity has never had a moral code, it is an opportunistic religion devised by Romans with the collusion of those bearded hypocrites in the 4th Century who wanted power and favour with the Roman Emperor Constantine. I wish that the Irish Government would prosecute me for blasphemy so that I can get a chance, in court, to show that Christianity itself is blasphemy. As, of course, are all the teachings of the paedophile and rapist Mo hammed.

Why wasn’t slavery made illegal in the dark ages when europe had a christian theocracy?

We can never know that… it’s history.

Why was it ever allowed in america if Jesus was suppose to say it is wrong?

See above.

Is it not our evolved morals that decided it is wrong?

Most likely so.

How can you say morals come from god, if god allows slavery, but we think it is wrong?

God allowed human being choice my dear.

Americans are not the only Christians, nor were they in 1860. Most majority-Christian countries in the world at that time had already outlawed slavery long ago.

This another typically ignorant American (U.S.A.) comment, Actually, even in the U.S.A. they realized it was wrong well ahead of 1860.
In the dark ages in Europe, there was no slavery, unless you want to call indentured servitude slavery.
God created all men equal: even the U.S.A. Constitution says that: the real problem is GREED.

Scripture states that enslavers go against the law and sound doctrine and they are lawless and disobedient.

understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine, ~ 1 Timothy 1:9-10

Scripture does state that if you are in slavery you should obey your masters and respect them. But there is nothing stopping a slave from working towards freedom or asking for release and we can take someone out of slavery by buying them out of slavery or ideally taking them out of slavery by sharing the truth with the enslaver and the enslaver releasing them. Enslavers go against the law.

Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything: and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to curry their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord. ~ Colossians 3:22

Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. ~ Ephesians 6:5

Slaves, in reverent fear of God submit yourselves to your masters, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh. ~ 1 Peter 2:18

Slavery is unloving as it is not kind. Jesus Christ has commanded us to love one another and if we reject him and don’t accept his words we will be condemn by them.

A new commandment I give unto you: that ye love one another, as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. ~ John 13:34 (Jesus Christ)

But I tell you, love your enemies ~ Matthew 5:44 (Jesus Christ)

love is kind ~ 1 Corinthians 13:4-5

There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words: the very words I have spoken will condemn them at the last day. ~ John 12:48 (Jesus Christ)

Our inner morality meter is apparently different than God`s.

Because if you preach to a population of white inbred potato farmers, this is what you’re gonna geht!
