What makes on of them correct? I have known people from each of those religions who have feelings that they receive in their churches which to them means their church is the correct church, and all of the other churches are wrong? I am more familiar with LDS and Catholicism, but I still have a general understanding of Baptists. What makes them correct? I am not asking this to be combative, like some people in this section, I just want to know what some people think the truth is. Hopefully someone from each of these dominations will answer this question so that I may have a better understanding of each religion. Thanks
I am LDS. for me, it is the fact that every thing agrees with and works with every other thing in His gospel. there are no contradictions. there are no ":unexplainables": in the information He has given us. there is nothing left to chance, and the guidelines are firm, but can allow for all kinds of individuality within them. everything about it shows a loving and guiding Father who allows us our own personalities and ideas. the different books of scripture all coincide. and the gospel is presented with room for learning and expanding it’s knowledge……like a parable – there is always something new that can be discovered. like I said – every thing works with every other thing.
The only thing that would make one more correct than the others would be to know which is actually recognized by God, in whom His power and authority are made manifest and which are most in agreement with the Godly doctrines of Love, Faith, Hope, Charity, Light, Truth, Obedience, and the Spirit in both word and deed.
Although much good is found in all churches and they meet the needs of many well, I find the greatest fulfillment of all of these in the LDS leadership and people who live the doctrines daily to the best of their ability. Include all the true church attributes mentioned by another and they are all found as part of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ as taught by the Mormons.
It takes a lot of research, depth of understanding, and intellectual honesty, but it’s all here once you have all the puzzle pieces and are able to assemble them in proper context. Amazing how the Lord has put it all together to prove the extent of His love and justice for all mankind and every soul in particular.
For me, it was/is an appeal to the Bible to find which Church most closely matched the things I read in the Bible. And that has turned out to be the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons).
Here is some of the Biblical doctrine that most closely matches the doctrine of Mormons:
Christ organized the Church (Ephesians 4:11-14)
The true church must bear the name of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 5:23)
The true church must have a foundation of Apostles and Prophets (Ephesians 2:19-20)
The true church must have the same organization as Christ’s Church (Ephesians 4:11-14)
The true church must claim divine authority (Hebrews 4:4-10)
The true church must have no paid ministry (Acts 20:33-34: John 10:11-13)
The true church must baptize by immersion (Matthew 3:13-16)
The true church must bestow the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands (Acts 8:14-17)
The true church must practice divine healing (Mark 3:14-15)
The true church must teach that God and Jesus are separate and distinct individuals (John 17:11: 20:17)
The true church must teach that God and Jesus have bodies of flesh and bone (Luke 23:36-39: Acts 1:9-11: Hebrews 1:1-3)
The officers must be called by God (Hebrews 4:4: Exodus 28:1: 40:13-16)
The true church must claim revelation from God (Amos 3:7)
The true church must be a missionary church (Matthew 28:19-20)
The true church must be a restored church (Acts 3:19-20)
The true church must practice baptism for the dead (1Corinthians 15:16 &: 29)
":By their fruits ye shall know them.": (Matthew 7:20)
Ephesians 4:1-6 answers it quite simply. Other than that Galatians 1:8,9. Cannot go outside what the first century Christian apostles wrote for us. Even if an ":Angel from heaven ":. LDS belief is an Angel appearing to Smith. That was no Angel !
The answer to this question is the same as the answer to ":Which religion is correct?":
Whichever brings you closer to God and helps you on your path to be more forgiving, understanding and loving.
If I were to look at everything as black and white, then your statement may make sense, but would also have to be applied to the many viewpoints of atheism, thus making all of atheism wrong. Since, however, I have the ability to see color, I would say that they all have some truth to them.
You are joking right? Martin Luther left the Catholic church because the Catholics were selling indulgences. Is selling indulgences right?
What makes anyone correct is obeying the standards set out in the Bible as requirements for worship of God in the way he approves.
For instance: Jesus told how we could identify his true followers. ": I am giving YOU a new commandment, that YOU love one another: just as I have loved YOU, that YOU also love one another. 35 By this all will know that YOU are my disciples, if YOU have love among yourselves.” (John 13:34-35)
Who obey that today? They would not take any part in the wars of the world as that would mean killing spiritual brothers on both sides. This also shows them to be united in love without divisions.
":Now I exhort YOU, brothers, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ that YOU should all speak in agreement, and that there should not be divisions among YOU, but that YOU may be fitly united in the same mind and in the same line of thought. ": (1 Cor. 1:10) This states there would not be denominations or different teachings from place to place. Especially not between churches of the same name just less than two miles apart as is true of many in the US.
Obeying the commands of Jesus is another identifying mark of true religion. When he ordered, ":19 Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded YOU. And, look! I am with YOU all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.” (Matt. 28:19-20)
How did Paul obey this? In Acts 20:20 he says, ":20В while I did not hold back from telling YOU any of the things that were profitable nor from teaching YOU publicly and from HOUSE TO HOUSE.":
What would they not do? ":8В Look out: perhaps there may be someone who will carry YOU off as his prey through the philosophy and empty deception according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary things of the world and not according to Christ.": (Col. 2:8)
Instead, their worship must be, ":24 God is a Spirit, and those worshiping him must worship with spirit and truth.” (John 4:24) So everything that they believe is based and they can prove by the Bible.
Now, none of those religions you mentioned in the question details actually do all these things. Only the true religion does. Find it.
Joseph Smith was a con man. People paid him money to find treasures. His excuse for not finding treasure was it was guarded by spirits. He was arrested as a ":juggler,": or ":con man.": He was brought before a justice of the peace. The judge ascertained that there was enough evidence to try him. This was in Bainbridge, N.Y., in 1826, The judge was Albert Neely. Smith was labeled a ":glass looker":. The evidence against Smith was sufficient that, if Smith had not left town, he would have been judged guilty. Smith then went on and fabricated the Book of Mormon. He got his idea for the book from Ethan Smith’s View of the Hebrews, or ":The Tribes of Israel in America":.He supposedly used a pair of spectacles to ":translate": the plates for the Book of Mormon, friends and relatives said he used the same stone he used in his former money digging scheme. The gold plates never existed according to a witness. An early Mormon convert heard Harris say ":I never saw the plates.":
Details can be found in ":Joseph Smith and the Origins of the Book of Mormon":, by David Persuitte.
There has not been found one piece of archaeological evidence to support the story of ancient America found in the Book of Mormon. In the 1950s, the LDS church financed ":the largest archaeological project ever funded by a religious institution": It was successful in that it uncovered an enormous amount of archaeological information about ancient America, but as far as providing any evidence for the Book of Mormon, it was a failure. That has not been changed by any subsequent archaeological findings.
In his book, Losing a Lost Tribe: Native Americans, DNA, and the Mormon Church, Simon G. Southerton shows that the American natives show no evidence of Israelite descent, which contradicts what the Book of Mormon says.
Joseph Smith had an eye for women, so he instituted plural marriage and took over 50 wives, some of them the wives of other men.
God was once a man He has a body of flesh and bone and lives on a planet near the star Kolob. The sun gets its light from the Kolob. God has at least one wife, our ":Mother in Heaven,": but she is so holy that we are not to discuss her nor pray to her. We can become like God and rule over our own universe. There are many gods. In the highest degree of the celestial kingdom men have more than one wife. A righteous Mormon will see the face of God in the Mormon temple. If a Gentile becomes Mormon, the Holy Ghost actually purges his Gentile blood and replaces it with Israelite blood.
. Jesus was married. Jesus and Satan are brothers, They are our brothers. We are spirit children of Heavenly Father. Jesus was conceived by God by having sex with Mary. We should not pray to Jesus. The ":Lord": in the Old Testament is Jesus in the New Testament, but different from ":God the Father":. Christ will not return to earth in any year that has seen a rainbow.
Before coming to this earth we lived as spirits in a ":pre-existence":, in which we were tested. Dark skin is a curse from God, the result of our sin or our ancestors sin. If righteous, a dark-skinned person will become light-skinned. Not only will humans be resurrected to eternal life, but also all animals.
All humans before the Flood lived in the western hemisphere. The Ark transported Noah to the eastern hemisphere. Mormons should avoid traveling on water, Satan rules the waters. You can identify a false angel by the color of his hair, or by offering to shake his hand.
American Indians are ":descendants of Lehi":, but there is not a hint of the Hebrew language in any of the Indian dialects. The Garden of Eden was in Missouri. The Book of Mormon says that Lehi found horses in America. Horses did not exist in the Americas until the 16th century. The Book of Mormon says that Nephi had a bow of steel. Jews did not have steel in this time period and iron was not smelted in the Americas until Spaniard arrived. The book of Mormon mentions ":swords and cimeters.": Scimitars were not around until the rise of Islam (500A.D.) The Book of Mormon mentions silk. This did not exist in the Americas at this time.
In D&:C 130:3 it says, ":The idea that the Father and the Son dwell in a man’s heart is an old sectarian notion, and is false.":
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the only true church on the earth. It was established by Jesus Christ himself.
@Chris Don’t even try saying Baptists. Don’t even try talking down about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, the one true church. You prefer a church named after John the Baptist instead of one with the name of Jesus Christ in it? I had a feeling you’re a baptist going by how you are. Especially with boasting about being a pastor. Here’s some info for you, the baptisms do as much good as a bath. You get them wet and that’s it. Your baptism is false because you do not have the authority from God to perform baptisms. Baptists have to go to college and graduate to baptize. That’s not exactly the same authority John the Baptist had is it? No Baptist church is the same. They have no biblical structure at all. We members of the true church do not lie when we tell the church is true. The scriptures say Jesus sits on the right hand of God. So you’re going to say Jesus sits on his own hand? What about when Christ said ":my God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?": By living the gospel of Jesus Christ a person does get into Heaven. We follow the teachings of Jesus Christ.
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Creator of Heaven and Earth
And in Jesus Christ
His only Son, Our Lord
Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit
Born of the Virgin Mary
Suffered under Pontius Pilate
Was crucified, died and was buried.
On the third day, he rose again
He ascended into Heaven
and is seated at the right hand
of God, the Father Almighty.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Holy Catholic Church,
the Communion of Saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.
The Catholic Church was started by Jesus Christ, blessed by the Holy Spirit and is loved by God…
I do not believe in the nonsense of ":one true church":
Any Church that goes by the King James Bible, should not oppose another.
There is only 1 Jesus.
