A question for those with religious beliefs…?

As an atheist I am constantly told about God, Jesus and the good word which is in the bible. However, I already know about all these things: it is very difficult to grow up in this world and not know about them. Also, I am sure that most, if not all, atheists know about them too. So why is it you feel you have to reiterate to us what we already know but have CHOSEN not to acknowledge as belief?
I mean, it’s synonomous with going up to a smoker and saying don’t you know what smoking does to you?. Of course they do, the same way an atheist will be aware of religious dogma and the ill effects of being wrong.

I understand your point of view, and I’m a Christian. Yes you have the right to believe anything you wish too. But just like a person warning the smoker the risks of death, the Christians show sympathy aswell in the form of informing you about god simply because they don’t want you to go through hell. This is just human nature.

Hope the best for you. (God bless you ) in my words and ( Science encourage you) in your words.

Why single out religious beliefs? Why not simply ask &quot:should beliefs be forced into our legal guidelines&quot:? Virtually all regulation is basically based on ethical ideas, however ethical ideas are just one other type of belief. There’s no method we can applied scientific checks so one can elevate morality to the realm of fact. We are able to only say anything is flawed in view that we suppose or think it to be incorrect. For illustration, some people believe that embryonic stem telephone study is a moral important, and will have to be allowed through regulation. Some men and women maintain the converse: that it’s a ethical evil that will have to be outlawed. Even as faith may be a element in where individuals stand, the choice is as so much a philosophical or moral one as religious one. Neither stance can be proven to be real: therefore the legislation need to be based both on the beliefs of the majority, or the beliefs of these with the power to set the law. It would be no other way.

&quot:However, I already know about all these things:&quot:
That’s quite incredible, because it’s very rare to meet someone (even a churchgoer) who understands, for example, how the Bible explains why God allows suffering, so the claim that you could have learned this simply through growing up and occasionally hearing Jesus mentioned staggers the imagination.

In any case, there’s more to this world than just you. Even if you have somehow become aware of everything there is to know about God and choose to remain wilfully ignorant, it doesn’t change the fact that SOME people actually don’t know these things because nobody has told them. We’re not going to stop telling people just out of fear of sometimes mentioning it to people who already know and prefer to stick their heads in the ground.

Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. (Galatians 5:19-21)
The word sorcery above was highlighted and underlined in this verse because “sorcerers” in the olden times used to use herbal and odd concoctions to induce drug highs. In fact, the word used in the bible for “sorcery” is is pharmakeia, which is where we get our word “pharmacy.”
Just based on those verses alone (and there are other similar verses to be found), it becomes quite clear that smoking pot, being a drunk, or doing any behavior which causes a person to become “high” for recreational purposes is wrong, probably illegal, and definitely a sin.

Not everyone knows you have &quot:chosen not to acknowledge as belief&quot: God and Christianity, so maybe you’re getting some percentage of unknowing Christians who come to you with Christ, and some percentage of Christians who are repeat proselytizers who either can’t believe what they consider an incredibly dumb choice on your part, or are hoping that you will change your mind, or both. That’s life. God Bless you.

Because you don’t know. I was raised Christian. I left when I was sixteen. Years later, I came back when I realized that my life had actually gotten worse, and I looked at the scriptures again. I didn’t know what I thought I had. Now that I actually studied it, it made sense. I understood more.

You can’t simply grow up hearing about it and think you understand it. I know some basic things about carpentry: Does that mean I understand how an entire house is built? There’s so much more I don’t know, and which I will never know, unless I devote time to it. And unless I have studied how a house is built, I can’t really criticize its design and structure, because I don’t know anything about it. Maybe those windows are perfect for letting sun in, but they don’t look so great. If I simply call them ugly and be done, will I ever understand that they have an actual purpose? Will I ever know what that purpose is?

IF THERE IS NO DAY OF JUDGMENT.

We’re currently ‘building’ our fate, but the outcome is ‘written’ (known) by God already.

I live here and I believe in the Day of Judgment and after that to go tho Paradise. However if you don’t , and we are both standing there on the Day of Judgment and you see it is real, what do you think would happen to you, then? It is too late to return and to do good things then. As form me, I don’t have to loos on any thing. I lived my life here: lived to have education, Marriage , children, friends etc.. I am asking you. what will happen to you then on that day? You didn’t believe it will be there and you didn’t believe in Paradise. After Day of Judgment The only two places left are: Hell and Paradise. Nothing in between.

When you think about it, every thing is revolving about this two places!!! If there is anything thats fair in this existence, it’s the afterlife.
Ever since we are on this Planet Earth!
Morals guide us, but future punishment makes us think of what will happen to me if I get caught. Without this some would not be held in check. Without law and/or punishments what would stop people from doing more evil then they do?

Im truely sorry you dont see the good and truth in Jesus. ill pray for you, but being a christian doesnt mean you have to be boring or dumb. i go do crazy stuff (food fights, amusment parks, etc.) with church, while helping people and putting a smile on their faces. Being a christian isnt a religion, its a relationship with Jesus. And it feels great to know Him, and have Him take your problems away.

The reason &quot:why is it you feel you have to reiterate to us what we already know&quot:…is part of the reward of being saved… to &quot:take up your cross daily&quot: (Luke 9:23).

23 Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it. 25 What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self? 26 Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.

I don’t believe in God, Jesus or the Bible, so I don’t see why I’d reiterate anything about them.
