Yesterday, as I was waiting in traffic, my ’03 VW Passat began to shake like crazy and the check engine light came on and was flashing. Nothing was wrong with my tires and it wasn’t overheating or anything :-/ just had the oil changed about two weeks ago. Any guesses? Hoping it’s not my transmission…
Usually a massive misfire – the flashing Check Engine Light means you are doing damage to the car every second you have it running and need to pull over and shut it off right away BTW.
Cause? On a VW it could be lots of things. That is a question for the mechanic you are going to tow the car too. As a VW owner I assume you have a regular mechanic.
Ive been driving my car with the check engine light flashing fo a couple months now. No it’s not recommended but sometimes you gta do what you gta do!!! The shaking an flashing light is a misfiring in one or more cylinders the fix is sparkplugs (tuneup) and or coil pack / ignition coil depending on the car u drive

Why is my car shaking and the check engine light flashing?

usually when your check engine light is flashing and your car shakes at the same time your spark plugs or ignition coils are faulty and misfiring causing the scary shakes, go to autozone they will hook your car up to a scanner for free scan the check engine light and tell your exactly whats wrong but most likely a spark plug/s or igntion coil/s problems.
The absolutely free reverse vin check sites generally provide fake information. To get real information, money will have to be paid. The free searches provide fake information so they can get your email address to send spam.
Stay away from shady reverse vin check sites, most likely you won’t get any information after you make the payment. Not to mention you won’t get a report and you won’t get an answer if you try to call for a refund. Stick with a reputable reverse vin check site like http://www.reversevincheck.net that has been around since 1995.
I highly agree with **star of gaming**
Take your vehicle to a local parts store like AutoZone and they will check your cars computer for an error report, and its done very quickly and wont cost you a dime. The results of that report will get you headed in the right direction. And once you get the report, come back here and we’ll have some more info for ya 🙂
It could be literally any 1 of 100’s of reasons. You will need to have the vehicle scanned for codes to find out what the problem may be.
A flashing Check Engine Light is a sign for a critical failure (as opposed to a solid illumination of the light) so I advise you to check on this sooner rather than later.
sounds like 1 of the sensors is,nt working and making the check engine light come on. it don,t sound like the transmission. when your sitting then the transmission is,nt working so it can,t be that. try changing the fuel filter. it might be so dirty that the engine can,t get enough fuel for the injectors. the tires would,nt do it by sitting still either. have auto zone check the codes for you for free. that way you can pin point the problem but it sounds like 1 of the sensors or fuel.
I wont lie…. But it sounds like you need a new engine mount.. maybe one or 2 of them to be exact. The best way to check is to turn the car on, in your garage while in park and not moving. Then turn the a/c on and if the shaking increases….. Then you need a new engine mount.
