The US, they invented it.
Even though most of my music is British, I have to agree with Zimmy, if it was not for the USA, then there may not have been The Beatles, Stones, Zep, Yardbirds, Cream, Black Sabbath, The Who, The Animals. But we probably would still have had, Elvis, John Lee Hooker, Robert Johnson, B. B. King, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Ike &: Tina Turner, Roy Orbison, Bill Haley &: His Comets, Beach Boys, Creedence Clear Water Revival, Grand Funk Railroad, Frank Zappa, Blood Sweat &: Tears, Chicago, Electric Flag, Bob Dylan, James Brown, Little Richard, Alice Cooper, Kiss, Steppenwolf, The Band, and so on and so on.
Gee James I’m at a loss US Kinda started it so that would naturally make them the biggest contributor. But UK had the Beatles, The Stones, Hendrix,The Moody Blues You tell me I’m just a replanted Czech here in the US
The best Rock and Metal music EVERRRRRRRRR.
Both had major contributions but the UK had more
IF you are just talking about musicians and quality of bands, then yes, the UK has contributed somewhat more, but ONLY since rock music was invented…BY American R&:B and Motown artists, who took AMERICAN Blues, Rockabilly, combined them and basically invented the genre. So it really depends what you mean: genesis, or embellishment.
As Muddy Waters wrote: ":The Blues done had a baby, and they named…it Rock &: Roll":. Sorry, Eric Clapton! But YOU know what I mean, dontcha?
Its really close, but I would say US. Even though bigger older rock bands may have started in UK, they didn’t get popular until they came to the US. Also, most modern rock comes from the US.
