Isuzu trooper vs toyota hilux vs Honda CR-V vs Nissan Xtrail?

I know the first two are different to the second two 4×4’s but I need a reliable workhorse for under ВЈ3000 that is big enough for a large family and dogs.

I’m not worried about mileage, MPG ( I will only do around 3k miles per year ) but has to be 4×4 for the conditions where I live.

Insurance and tax is about the same on the all but I dont know about repairs, major faults, servicing etc.

All I have heard is :-

Isuzu – Basic not that good on normal roads
Toyota – Bullet proof if you find the right one but heads do crack
Honda – Bit boring, expensive to fix
Nissan – Great cars, quite a bit smaller, more expensive

anyone with views

Thanks
toyota’s are generally bullet prof

The ultimate offroader is still the Landrover Defender, the only one that even comes close to the performance of this in your choices there is the Isuzu trooper. You are also forgetting cars such as the Toyota Land Cruiser, The Range Rover, Land Rover Discovery and the Freelander, Mitsubishi Pajero / Shogun, The Mitsubishi L200 Double Cab, Nissan Terrano, Nissan Navara and the Mercedes M Class. A lot of choices, all within your price range &amp: very capable of getting you into and out of trouble whilst carrying passengers and your dogs.
